Ocala, Florida (April 17, 2013) –
Marion County’s first Run for the Springs Corporate 5K was hosted by Office of the County Engineer and its Stormwater Man- agement Section. The “Run for the Springs”, a family-friendly 5K event was held this past Saturday at the McPherson Government Complex in Ocala, Florida. Participants enjoyed refreshments from the sponsors, live music, a children’s area along with prizes for the fastest-running companies and individuals.
Marion County is home to the Rainbow Springs, Silver Glen and Silver Springs, one of the world’s largest and most famous arte- sian springs. The Corporate Run for the Springs celebrated the community while raising awareness about steps that businesses and individuals can take to protect water resources. These in-
clude water conservation, wise fertilization and landscape watering practices and proper op- eration and maintenance of septic systems.
HydroMentia Team Captain Casey Demary placed 2nd in his age category and 11th overall out of 182 participants.
